Description of the book

The book Ship Manoeuvring explains the complex facts of ship maneuvers well and practice-relevantly. It deals with the theoretical background of kinetics, hydrodynamics and regulations and combines this with seamanship and experience from everyday ship life. After an introduction, Part 2 looks at the manoeuvres from the operational side. Part three is based on the ship's command side. The manoeuvres with ships are sorted into groups (e.g. mooring and casting off, anchoring, towing, shallow water etc.) and the individual aspects such as rotation, stopping, course stability and sea behaviour are explained. Formulas for the calculation of ship behaviour are given as well as graphs and diagrams which make the facts easier to understand. This book is aimed at navigators, pilots and experienced deck officers. At the same time it offers prospective navigators the opportunity to intensively study the ship's behaviour during manoeuvres. This reference book has been written according to the latest STCW guidelines in order to satisfy both as a textbook for study and as a reference book on board.
